On the occasion of his Park Nights event and of his 66th birthday, Charlemagne Palestine held a special experimental concert in the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2011 designed by Peter Zumthor. A contemporary of minimalists Phillip Glass & Steve Reich, Palestine considers himself a "maximalist", writing and performing intense ritualistic compositions such as his acclaimed Strumming Music (1974).
