The Mobile Tours are available through the Serpentine's free public wifi. Visitors can access the public wifi on their smartphone in the Galleries or inside the Pavilion and as soon as they connect to the wifi, the mobile tours will automatically pop up. You can also access the mobile tours at http://mobiletours.serpentinegalleries.org but please note that this will only work when you are in the Galleries and connected to our wifi.
Launched in 2016 to coincide with the Serpentine’s expanded summer programmes, the Mobile Tours are updated for every new exhibition season. The platform currently provides tours of Grayson Perry: The Most Popular Art Exhibiton Ever! and Arthur Jafa: A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions. Take a tour of The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever! with Grayson Perry, with his own written captions for a selection of his works and listen to Grayson Perry as he describes a selection of works in the show. The tour of Arthur Jafa: A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions includes background information about Arthur Jafa, Ming Smith and Frida Orupabo and provides additional context to the works in the exhibition.
The Mobile Tours serve as an essential link between the Serpentine and its audience, guiding visitors between the Serpentine Gallery, Serpentine Sackler Gallery and Pavilion and creating user-led experiences.
The Serpentine Mobile Tours are part of a wider digital engagement programme, sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies, to engage new audiences, both on site and online, with art, architecture and design and to support the next generation of artists and architects. The programme includes new digital displays at the Serpentine as well as the Build Your Own Pavilion competition, a nationwide campaign challenging young people aged 8-14 years to design a small-scale model of a temporary summer Pavilion.
